Hair loss has become a topic of common concern amongst the youth of our country. The male gender is affected vastly as compared to the female counterpart. There are a wide variety of factors that may lead to this condition. The major ones being:

Even though young people may try their hands on a lot of hair restoration methods like shampoo, conditioner, oils etc but to revive hair from continuous loss, the major technique that is most famous today due to its success rate is Hair transplant.
Hair transplant may be described as the delocalization of Donor dominant or DHT-Resistant Hair Follicles. The movement takes place from the donor area to the affected area which may be called as the recipient area.

Some Do’s before the FUE show:
- Medical Condition-The Dermatologist should be informed about all the medical condition of the patient like diabetes, blood pressure etc so that he/she can study the history of medical reports and advice the necessary precautions accordingly. Proper management of diet, medications, insulin levels is a must .Moreover there are certain medicines pertaining to diabetes and sugar which need to be started/stopped prior to the procedure depending upon the requirements of the patient’s health condition.
- Addictive habits-The Dermatologist has the right to know all about the addictive habits of the patients like alcohol consumption ,smoking etc in any form ( usage of nicotine based chewing gums, e-cigarettes or any other alternative options).These habits need to be brought to halt as a ground preparation for hair transplant, may be a week prior.
- Usage of surgical scrub/shampoo-The dermatologist might prescribe usage of certain medicated hair wash etc as a part of prior preparation to the process. Similarly certain the shampoos etc might need a halt to its usage owing to the prior preparations.
- Heavy workout-Heavy workouts may have to be temporarily stopped at least 4-5 days before the treatment .This might include any kind of sports activities, gymnasium visits, running, jogging exercises etc. Try to avoid any kind of mental stress as well. Also get proper sleep of 7-8 hours every day.
- Food habits-Consumption of foods that are heavy to digest, greasy and stronger on the spices side should be avoided a week before the process.
- Daily Massage-Once decided to get hair transplant done, it is desirable to massage the hair for at least 15-20 minutes every day for 30 days prior to the treatment. Daily massage softens the scalp, enhances blood flow and thus yields in improving the hair transplant result.
- Hair-dyes-Hair dyes should be avoided from a week prior the treatment because a clean and white scalp may aid the Dermatologist to have spotless access of the scalp.
Precautions: Hair -Transplant day
- Dress of the patient-It is suggested to wear a front-opening shirt.
- Day-Begin – Begin the day with a decent breakfast
- Medical Reports-Get all medical reports in one place, preferably hard copy.
- Caffeinated items-Avoid tea/coffee on the day of the transplant.
- Hair care products-Avoid any kind of hair health enhancement product’s application on the day of transplant, but make sure the hair is washed clean.
Post procedure Do’s and Dont’s
- Ample rest– Good amount of rest after the procedure is a must after the procedure.
- Schedule of medicines and diet: Stick to the schedule of medicines prescribed and suggested diet religiously.
- Strict adherence to instructions– Follow all the instructions given by Dermatologist with regards to hair-care regime, diet, physical activity etc.
- Avoid outdoors– It is suggested to avoid being outdoors , wearing cap/hats/helmets for a few days.
- Given all the above conditions are met, it will take six months for the results.
