Blackheads are a mild type of acne that usually forms on the face, but they can also appear on the following body parts:

*Back

*Chest

*Neck

*Arms

*Shoulders

Some factors can increase your chances of developing acne and blackheads. That are following:-
• Squeezing or scrubbing at blackheads can make them worse.
• Use of oil-based skin care products, humid environments, tight clothes, and skin products that contain alcohol.
• They tend to appear when hormones lead to the increased production of sebum, an oily substance, by the glands under the skin.
• Dairy products and foods that increase blood sugar levels, such as carbohydrates, may play a part in triggering acne.
• Unhygienic factor, one must clean the skin properly, otherwise dead skin cells can accumulate in the pores.
• Taking certain drugs, such as corticosteroids, lithium, or androgens.
• Consult a Dermatologist to prevent a proper treatment for this problem.

Why pimples occur ?

There are a number of reasons behind what causes blackheads, but a poor or uneven hygiene regimen has little to do with it. Blackhead developed in the opening of hair follicles in your skin and the hormonal changes is animportant factor. We believe the black dots that form and give this type of acne its name are formed from dirt. Actually the marks are the result of oxidized sebum, which turns black when the pore opens at the end and exposes the material inside the clogged pore to the air.

Here are some reasons of having blackheads:-

• The blocking or covering pores by cosmetics and clothing
• Heavy sweating during summers.
• Shaving and other activities that open the hair follicles.
• High humidity and grease in the immediate environment.
• Medications that encourage rapid skin cell turnover.
• Use of some steroid-based drugs, such as corticosteroids.

What are the Symptoms of Acne?

Blackheads can develop on any part of the body. It is not uncommon to find an infected blackhead on nose, lip, forehead, or cheek areas. These dark colors, blackheads are easy to spot on the skin.

If an infected blackhead is found on your body, you may experience the following symptoms:

• Experience swelling also a common symptom, the infected blackheads grows larger and swells, especially on sensitive parts of the body like the face.
• The redness intensifies when touched. When blackheads on the face turn red, it’s often the first sign of an infected blackhead.
• A sharp pain is experienced when an infected blackhead is touched, especially when the blackhead is on the ear because the area is quite sensitive.
• When an infected blackhead breaks open, pus will drain out, and some blood also comes out with it.

Treatment of Infected White heads :-

Infected blackhead removal can be simple with the following treatment methods:-

A. Cleanse and Exfoliate

Regular exfoliation and cleansing is an obvious approach for an acne-free body and face. Cleanse with soaps that include plant-based ingredients like olive oil. Before cleansing your face one must consult a dermatologist, to know about which skin product is useful for it.

B. Diet Schedule

Eat a high protein diet rich in probiotics, fiber, omega-3, zinc, vitamin A, and vitamin C. A poor diet and blackheads are directly linked, because a healthy diet is essential for reducing inflammation and promoting overall good health.

C. Make-up and cosmetics

Use non-comedogenic products that do not clog pores instead should keep the pores clear and open and reduce the buildup of dead skin. If still there is confusion while selecting cosmetic, you must consult a dermatologist.

D. Laser And Light Therapy To Remove Blackheads

Depending on the underlying cause of your blackheads, our dermatologist Dr. Sahil Mrigpuri will recommend laser or light therapy for blackhead removal and white head treatment. Both the laser and light beams penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and regulate the natural oil production. Even bacteria are killed by these beams preventing infections from developing in the pores. When compared to the other treatment methods, this method works in the lower layers of the skin without damaging the top layers.

E.  Microdermabrasion

This cosmetic treatment utilizes a piece of equipment with a rough surface with which the top layers of the skin are ‘sanded’ or scraped. As these layers get rubbed away, the blackheads are unplugged and removed.

F. Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are formulated with naturally occurring acids. An acid solution of an appropriate strength (or concentration) is applied on the skin, and this exfoliates the skin thoroughly. Exfoliation cleanses the pores and gets rid of blackheads. Many times, the chemical peel is followed up with manual extraction of remaining comedones.

G. Prescription Medications

Our Dermatologists will prescribe medications for acne and remove blackheads and white heads with with LASER. These are usually topical medications that most commonly belong to the retinoid family. At times, internal medication like antibiotics is also prescribed. Face washes and cleansers are also given.

Post acne marks and post acne pigmentation and scars are also treated after completing the treatment regimen.
